Halloween Tag Swap
Hello and welcome to my very first blog post! I'm very excited to share a Halloween tag I just made for a swap in a group I'm in on facebook.
It had to be 8 1/2" X 4 1/4" so I cut mine from heavy 130# watercolor paper. I punched a hole in the top of the tag with my Cropadile Big Bite. Then I sprayed my Dylusions Ink Spray in Crushed Grape. The colors that come from this one tiny bottle are soooo yummy! I set the tag aside to dry and began working on a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Glassine Pocket Envelope in Dark Kraft. It had a smooth almost waxy finish so I grabbed my Ranger/Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks in Slate, Eggplant, and the Metallic Mixative in Silver. I dropped a few drops of each then used a makeup pad to smooth and blend them together and cover the entire envelope. I love how it came out! After it dried, I ran it through my Sizzix with the Spellbinder M Bossabilities 3D embossing folder: Noble Rook. This raven is so fun! I then used some 7 Gypsies Steampunk rubbings and rubbed the little bugs in a few places around the envelope.
I then decided to wet emboss all over the tag with Ranger Goddess Gold embossing powder to give it that nighttime-star twinkle effect. I wanted the raven to really stand out so I embossed him in Ranger Black embossing powder. Now we are to the little wooden plaque that I purchased from Sa Crafters on Zibbet. I rubbed black ink into the lettering then an ivory ink across the top with black around the edges and glued the plaque down. I cut the top of the envelope off and angled the corners so it would fit on my large tag and glued it down. This is where I hot glued each one of those little flatback gems to the sides along with the black netting and dark purple lace (that I dyed with the same Dylusions spray) across the bottom of the tag. It was still missing something so I sprinkled globs of Ranger Silver embossing powder allll over the tag and heated it with my heat gun. Then I added spots of the Ranger Enamelware embossing powder. The final touches were to glue down two small rosebuds in the raven's mouth and a grey flower that I also globbed Ranger Silver embossing powder all over and heated with the heat gun.
Now for the smaller tag tucked inside... This was much faster! I took a precut tag and covered it in Ranger Silver embossing powder then heat it. I then stamped a bat and sentiment from Unity Stamps and embossed it in Ranger Black embossing powder. I tucked the smaller tag inside the larger one and tied some different ribbons/laces in the hole in the top of the larger tag. I hope you enjoyed my first blog post. I know it was a bit long, but this tag took some time.
Please see the pics and post a comment and follow me!
Thanks.
